Education Support
Education is a key element in any successful placement.
Looked after children deserve the best possible opportunities to learn and develop. Our flexible, needs-driven approach creates support packages that enable children to attend a local school; that, in turn, enhances leisure and social prospects.
We recognize that children and young people from disrupted backgrounds often find formal educational settings difficult to cope with. In partnership with the placing local authority we fund learning support assistants to support children in the classroom. Staff have worked alongside teachers to improve their understanding and strategies to deal with difficult behaviour. We provide a tutor if a child is not in school, and consultancy from an educational psychologist if required.
